An Overview of Roulette Gambling

Roulette is a game of chance that is extremely popular in casinos around the world. The game has been around from a very long time, but the game in its current avatar came into being in Paris in 1765. ‘Roulette,’ is a French word meaning Small Wheel which signifies the game. Today, there are two basic types of Roulette – American and European – with the difference between the two being the presence of an additional zero number, the double zero, in the American version of the game. Basically, this game consists of a table and a wheel.

The wheel has 37 or 38 slots, depending on whether it is European or American roulette, numbered starting from 0. The 38 slots are in the American version because of the presence of the additional double-zero entity.  The table also has the same number of boxes as the slots in the wheel. In the American game there are 38 boxes, numbered 0 through 37, and in the European game there are 37 squares, numbered 0 through 36. The boxes are of two colors, usually red and black, in an alternating pattern. 

Flow of the Game The game is played by rolling a small ball in one direction inside a wheel, which spins in the opposite direction. When the ball comes to rest on the wheel, that slot is the winning number. You win or lose depending on the wager you have placed prior to the spin.  It is simply a game of luck. Even a spectator can bet and win. Winning in roulette gambling needs lots of odds, luck, and game plan.  It is just not possible to win every round as it depends on the odds of the game.

In roulette gambling, a dealer turns a round roulette wheel which has 37 or 38 separately numbered pockets in which a ball must land. If a player bets on a single number and wins, the payout is 35:1, meaning that for each dollar bet, one wins an additional $35.00.
